COHERENCE

COHERENCE
Coherence is another element of a good paragraph. Besides unity, coherence is also important for a writing. Coherence means that the sentence must hold together each other, the movement between one to another must be smooth and logical. There must be no sudden jump from a sentence to sentence. So the reader will understand the whole writing. There are four ways to make a coherence paragraph/writing, the first is repeating keys nouns, the second is using pronouns, the third is using transition signals, and the last is arranging the sentence into logical order.
The first way is repeating key nouns, this is one of the easiest way to reach coherence. By repeating the key nouns, the reader will understand what the text is about. Usually the key nouns are the main subject of the text or sometimes the title of the text.
The second way is using pronoun, this is also easy to do to reach coherence. When the writer uses pronoun (him, it, her, me, etc.) to change the subject or object, make sure the pronoun is right in same person or thing and same number. If the writer use “him” at the first sentence, do not use “me” in the next sentence if it’s  for the same person. And also if the writer writes a singular pronoun in a sentence, do not use a plural pronoun in the next sentence  if it’s for the same person too, unless if the writer wants to talk about another person.
e.g. “I want to meet Joni tonight, He will come to my house” -> Right
e.g. “I want to meet my friends, He will come tonight” -> Wrong
e.g. “I want to meet my friends, One of my friends is Joni, He will come tonight” -> Right
The third way is using transition signals, it is very useful for reader when to stop, move forward, turn etc. it also helps the reader to understand the time you give something in the text (an example, a comparison, a result, etc.). Using transition signal can as a guide to a reader which makes the text easier to read. There are two types of transition signals, they are sentence connector and clause connector. Sentence connector is divided into two parts which are transition phrases (in addition, on the other hand, for example, in conclusion, etc.) and conjunctive adverb (furthermore, thus, therefore, however, etc. Clause connector is also divided into two parts, they are coordinating conjunctions (and, but, yet, so, etc.) and subordinating  conjunctions (although, if, unless, whereas, etc.). There are also others transition signals that aren’t included into any type (in spite of, such as, despite of, etc.). All of the transition signals are very important to reach coherence.
The last way is arranging in logical order, by using it for a paragraph or a text, we can reach coherence. You may arrange the text and decide the type of logical order, but it depends of the topic and purpose. A paragraph can be contain more than one type logical order. For deciding the type of logical order, we can see from the transition signals. There are several common types of logical order such as chronological order, logical division of ideas,  and comparison/contrast.
In conclusion, besides reaching unity, reaching coherence on a text/paragraph is very important. The writer should know and use these four ways on his/her writing for a good result of writing.

MEAN GIRLS

So, my class (literally) will perform something artistic called drama. We have this "Mean Girls" movie as our choice. It's a good film actually, though there are many rude words in it. I had to edit it. It will be a long and complex ones, especially the movie needs the complex characters as well. We can't just memorize the script, but we have to feel it. We have to enchant ourselves into the character we will act. It's very demanding, however if we don't do so, the result will be bad.

I am the one who edited the script, because 'Mean Girls" script is long and mean. I had to spend about almost six hours for that one due to some troubles, but i've done it and i can't wait to start acting in any minute from the time i post this. My hope is that my friends can be able to do it. Well, good luck! Oh, i don't feel like i wan to write the plot of this "Mean Girls" movie, i mean you can do it yourself to search, right?

Well then, see you later!

MOST FAVORITE SONGS EVER

TOP 20 MOST FAVORITE SONGS
Here’s my TOP 20 MOST FAVORITE SONGS list. The list contains different genres such as Pop, R&B, and Country. The songs come from the popular to the underrated ones. It also contains single songs and non-single songs. Read!
1.       Paper Planes by M.I.A.
It served as the 4th single of her 2007 album, Kala. The song was used as a soundtrack for film “Slumdog Millionaire”. It is a rap-spoken song which incorporates gunshot and cash register sound which is addictive. Vocally, the song isn’t perfect. However, the song is addicting and infectious for me. This is the song I’ll never skip in my life. J
2.       Just A Dream by Carrie Underwood
The ballad came from her second album, Carnival Ride (2007). The song deals with a girl who felt broken because her lover had died in a war. The video came as the most beautiful video I’ve ever seen. It is very tragic and melodic. The saddest song I’ve ever heard.
3.       I Know You Won’t by Carrie Underwood
This is another ballad song from her second album, Carnival Ride (2007). It is not a single though, but the way she sings it is perfection. The melody is beautiful as well. I have my imagination for how the video would look like.
4.       With Love by Hilary Duff
This song is from her third studio album, Dignity (2007). It incorporates sound of electronic and rock, which is very suitable. The melody is upbeat and catchy. This makes me dance-a-lot! It has the feeling of the like of spinning around.
5.       Vogue by Madonna
This is her 1990 single. As the title is “Vogue”, the video came with Madonna and her dancers did some vogue moves. It is not very danceable if you compare it to recent dance songs, but it was the revolution dance song which I love so much.
6.       Everblue by Mandy Moore
It’s a ballad song from Mandy Moore’s 2009 album, Amanda Leigh. Melodically, it is very liberating; it lives up my fairy tale world. The song catches my relaxation. Too bad it’s not a single and underrated as well.
7.       All the Things She Said by t.A.T.u.
This is their English debut song from their first English album, “200 km/h in a Wrong Lane” in 2002. It incorporates the sound of pop rock. It is very addicting, especially the repeating chorus.
8.       Before He Cheats by Carrie Underwood
It’s another country favorite. It is taken from her debut album “Some Hearts” in 2005. It is a mid-tempo country song about a story which a boy cheated a girl, but another girl attempted to do a revenge by crushing his car.
9.       Frozen by Madonna
A 1998 single from her album “Ray of Light”. It is a mid-tempo electronica song which Madonna hummed along the chorus. I think this song has a magic, the video is one of my favorite all time as well.
10.   Radar by Britney Spears
It is the 4th single off of her sixth album “Circus” (2008) which originally it was included in her fifth album “Blackout” (2007). The song is very catchy, with the sonar radar sound which makes it more addicting the more you hear it.
11.   So You Say by Siobhán Donaghy
It is another masterpiece; it is a ballad song with sweet music and vocal. It is taken from her second studio album “Ghost” in 2007 as the second single. Despite the song is very underrated, it is very like a hidden treasure.
12.   Not Gonna Get Us by t.A.T.u.
It’s the second single from their debut album “200 km/h in a Wrong Lane” (2002). An electro-pop song with addictive melody and music makes me wanna run all the time. Their vocal is also the awesomeness. It is suitable for a treadmill companion.
13.   Candy by Mandy Moore
It was her very first single. It came from her debut album as well “So Real” in 1999. Even though the lyric is overwritten, but it has a good melody. It is very bubblegum pop. The song makes me feel like “Ooooohhh I wanna stay young forever”
14.   Music by Madonna
It was her very first new millennium single. Taken from the album with the same name in 2000, the song marked her as her 12th number one single in United States. It is very groovy and dancey. It makes you wanna dance a lot. Electro-pop era started with this song, I think.
15.   La Isla Bonita by Madonna
It is a 1986 song from her “True Blue” album. It incorporated a Latin music which makes the sound is addicting. The song gives me chill every time I listen to it. It makes me feel like I live in a tropical breezy island.
16.   Freakshow by Britney Spears
It is taken from her fifth album “Blackout” in 2007. The music’s influence is dubstep. It wasn’t released as a single, but the beat gets me move my head left to the right. Britney herself also co-wrote the song.
17.   Girl Talk by TLC
It was their first single from their fourth album, “3D” (2002). It is an R&B song with Left-Eye rap. It is very groovy and catchy. I also like the dance in the video, but too bad Left-Eye has passed away 7 months prior to the album release. So, Left-Eye had only appeared as a cartoon.
18.   Obvious by LeToya Luckett
It was originally planned as the third single off of her debut self-titled album (2006), but it was cancelled due to a conflict with her label, Capitol Records. It is a ballad R&B which has a beat that I like from a R&B song. I wish the song had a video.
19.   I Wanna Go by Britney Spears
It was her third 2011 single from her 7th album “Femme Fatale”. It is an electro-pop song which incorporates a whistle, and that’s what makes it addicting. The video is also good, the paparazzi reminds me of Terminator.
20.   It Only Hurts When I Breathe by Shania Twain
This was the last single from her fourth album “Up” which was released in 2002.  This is a melodically ballad which shows her sensitive side. I love it. It was one of the best country song I’ve ever heard. Too bad, it doesn’t have an official video.

Carrie Underwood

This was my last assignment of Composition in Semester 3. My lecturer told me to make a composition and present it in front of the class. So maybe i'd like to post it anyhow. It was my own writing from all i know about her. I took a peek from Wikipedia, though.

Carrie Marie Underwood is an American singer-songwriter and newly actress who rose to fame by winning the fourth season of American Idol in 2005. Since then, she has become multi-platinum selling artist and won many prestigious awards such as American Music Award, Grammy Award, CMA Award, etc.  Her personal life and career is interesting, because who would have known that a farm-girl can be a superstar as of today? It is a proof for statement “Nothing is Impossible”.
Carrie’s personal life has been went so well. She was born on March 10, 1983 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She was raised in rural town of Checotah, Oklahoma. Her father worked in a sawmill, while her mother taught elementary school. She has two older sisters. She graduated from Checotah High School in 2001 and then she attended Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma and graduated in 2006 with a bachelor's degree in mass communication and an emphasis in journalism. She has experienced working at a pizzeria, a zoo, and a veterinary clinic. Carrie is animal lover and vegetarian, she stopped eating meat at age thirteen due to the fact that she could not stand a thought of eating one of her animals. Her interest on singing was seen when she was a kid, she used to perform on at a local church and Robbins Memorial Talent Show. In 2007, it was reported that Carrie dated Gossip Girl’s actor, Chace Crawford, but ended their relationship in 2008. A year later, she began dating a hockey player, Mike Fisher, and both engaged in the same year. In July 2010, Carrie and Mike married at Ritz Carlton Resort in Georgia, with 250 attendance including National Hockey League players, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Garth Brooks, American Idol’s contestants, as well as Paula Abdul, Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson. In 2005 and 2007, as a vegetarian, she was voted as Sexiest Vegetarian by animal rights organization PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals).
Carrie’s American Idol moments were very amazing. She auditioned for American Idol in the summer of 2004 in Saint Louis, Missouri which she sang “I Can’t Make You Love Me” by Bonnie Raitt and she went to Hollywood after three judges (Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, and Randy Jackson) said yes. And then in the Hollywood round Carrie sang “Young Hearts Run Free” by Candi Staton which she proceed to Top 75. In the Top 75, she sang “Independence Day” by her idol, Martina McBride. After being proceed to Top 24 (also called semi-final round), Carrie performed 3 songs in 3 different weeks. The first was “Could’ve Been” by Tiffany, the second was “Piece of My Heart” by Erma Franklin, and the last was “Because You Love Me” by Jo Dee Messina, which she was safe from elimination. And then she proceed to Top 12 (final round). During from the first week of Top 12 until she won, she sang at least 18 songs. Every week of final round, there was always a different theme of the songs that would be performed by the contestant, for example, the first week’s theme was “Song of the 1960s” and she sang “When Will I Be Loved” by The Everly Brothers. After that performance, Simon Cowell commented that she would be one of the favorites to win the show. And then on the second week, the theme was “Billboard Number Ones” which Carrie sang “Alone” by Heart, the performance brought Simon Cowell to predicted that she would not only win the show, but also would outsell any other American Idol’s winners. In fact, he got it right. The proof is she is American Idol’s U.S. Top Earner with 12.3 million album copies and 18.5 million digital tracks sold, along with amassing $66 million in tour revenues since winning Season 4.As a contestant, she was never been in the bottom three or two in the result show of American Idol. On May 25, 2005, Carrie was announced as the new American Idol winner, beating Bo Bice who ended up in the second place. Her winning single “Inside Your Heaven” debuted at number one on Billboard Hot 100 disturbing Mariah Carey’s single “We Belong Together” which fell down from the top (however, Mariah took back the spot next week). Her number one single made her the only country solo artist that has number one single on Billboard Hot 100 in 2000s decade. The song also won several awards such as Billboard Music Award for “Top Selling Country Single of the Year” and “Top Selling Hot 100 Song of the Year”.
Carrie’s career after American Idol is very great, she has achieved many achievements in music industry such as awards, number one singles and albums. Her debut album “Some Hearts” was released on November 15, 2005 in America. It debuted with amazing 315,000 copies sold in its first week which charted at number two on Billboard Hot 200 Albums Chart, only behind Madonna’s tenth album “Confessions on a Dance Floor”, and number one on Hot Country Album Chart. The chart progress went very well, it stayed on Billboard Hot 200 Albums and Hot Country Album Chart for 136 and 137 weeks respectively. In the end of 2006, “Some Hearts” was named as Best Selling Album of the Year. It has sold about 7,132,000 copies and certified seven times platinum in 2007. It is the best selling country album in 2000s decade. In Canada, the album debuted at number eleven and certified 3 times platinum for sales about 300,000 copies. The album had 5 successful singles, the first was “Jesus, Take the Wheel”, the second was “Don’t Forget to Remember Me”, the third was “Some Hearts” which was only airplay single, the fourth was “Before He Cheats” which her most successful single to date, and the last was “Wasted”. In her first album era, she achieved many prestigious award, the most notably award was Grammy Award in 2007 which she won Best New Artist for herself and Best Female Country Vocal Performance for the song “Jesus, Take the Wheel”. In Grammy Award 2008, “Before He Cheats” won the same category. She also embarked a nationwide tour named Carrie Underwood: Live 2006 for promoting her first album. After the successful debut album, Carrie released her second album on October 23, 2007 which she named it as “Carnival Ride”. The album eventually certified three times platinum in America for sales about 3,000,000 copies. “Carnival Ride” also had 5 successful singles, the first was “So Small”, the second was “All –American Girl”, the third was “Last Name” which she won her third consecutive Grammy Award for Best Female Country Vocal Performance in 2009, the fourth was “Just a Dream”, the fifth was “I Told You So” a 1988 song which she sang with the original singer, Randy Travis. The latter won Best Country Collaboration in 2010 Grammy Awards. There was a nationwide tour for promoting this album named Carnival Ride Tour which held in 2008. In 2009, she released her third album named “Play On”. It debuted both on Billboard Hot 200 and Hot Country Album Chart at number one with amazing sales nearly 318,000 copies in its first week. It also charted in Canada, Australia, Ireland, and United Kingdom at number two, fourteen,  ninety-one, and ninety-three respectively. The album eventually certified two times platinum and platinum for sales about 2,000,000 copies and 100,000 copies in United States and Canada respectively. “Play On” had 4 successful singles, the first was “Cowboy Casanova”, the second was “Temporary Home”, the third was “Undo It”, and the last was “Mama’s Song”. She embarked her third nationwide tour named “Play On” which as of now, her most successful to date, she performed in front of one million audiences throughout the tour which started in early 2010. As a songwriter, she wrote many singles of hers such as “So Small”, “Last Name”, “Cowboy Casanova”, and many others.
In 2010, she started to act in several television series. She became a guest star for Sesame Street and How I Met Your Mother, a year later she acted on  her very first big screen film titled “Soul Surfer” as Sarah Hill. She acted with AnnaSophia Robb, Dennis Quaid and many others senior actors and actresses. Even though she has not acted very much, she involved in several movies to sing the soundtracks such as “Ever Ever After” the soundtrack for 2007 Disney’s movie titled “Enchanted” and also in 2010, she sang and wrote a soundtrack for the movie “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader”  titled “There’s a Place for Us”, the song also sang by other artists based on the region where the movie was released. As of December 2011, she is in the process of recording for her fourth album which will be released in early 2012.
In conclusion, Carrie Underwood is not only amazing as an artist, but also as a normal person. She has achieved many things in her life. She is beautiful, talented, and educated. She can be a role model for many people, and she inspired her fans as well. She may not the best artist in the world, but there is something in her that makes me (and her fans) more interested instead of many other artists.

ATTEMPT TO TRY

Err... So, i was trying to upload a video, but the error occured when i uploaded it. Something that i wanted to upload was my song., my own song. I sang it, produced it, mixed it, wrote it and edited it. I also made the instruments all by myself by using a music application. It's not good and perfect, but i like it. The reason is because it is my own song and i made it all by myself. Especially it was sung by my vocal (-_-). I know right? I attempted to make my vocal better a little (my vocal sounds bad, and my mom agrees). I added auto-tune for the whole vocal so it sounded a "little bit" better. However, i am not ready to share, i just wanted to upload it. I still remember how many hours i spent for making the instrument, taking vocal, and editing. I put my effort to finish it, because prior to this record, i've always recorded only another artist's song, in other way, cover. I like all my records, i never intend to delete them all. Most of my records were uploaded to 4shared. i have gathered over 100 times downloads for 11 songs or 12? I can't remember. They're not so many, but i am happy with them. I even promoted my records to several foreigners, Twitter friends. They're from Spain, United States, United Kingdom, and Vietnam. They seemed like my records too. I mean, It was unexpected they listened to my records when they didnt even know me disregarding to the comment. So yeah. I haven't done any new records yet. To sing is easy, but to edit is hard, that's what i'm lazy about :). Well, i'll attempt to try it next time. My records probably will be uploaded in the next post or next, next, next post. See you pals!

This could be a poem or a lyric. idk, just wanna post something... :D

AFTERMATH / LUNAR

Everyday is different / even if you spend it through the rest and sleep
Everyday is a gift / even you hate a day, it will come to an end
What makes you strong? / what makes you mind? To not letting me stay after you had a bad day
I’m here to make you feel better / even if you say no, I’ll try harder

Chorus:
I’ll show you light like a lunar in the sky / You can reach out for a better night
I promise no bad aftermath of all that / And by tomorrow you’ll be alright

Wind blows thru yourself / even if you feel the pain, wind can wash it away
Stars are dancing slowly / even the music fades, there’s a humming in your heart
What makes you strong? / what makes you mind? To not letting me stay after you had a bad day
I’m here to make you feel better / even if you say no, I’ll try harder

To Chorus

Don’t be sad, my lunar isn’t in eclipse, or black night no light like I can’t lead you out
Stars aren’t dead and wind doesn’t stand still, do you know… this is true, this is real…
To Chorus
